FAQs for hearing aids & hearing aid styles
Been wearing hearing aids for years and looking for a new style? Or are you completely new to hearing aids and the styles available, and don’t know where to begin? No matter what, we’re here to help!
We’ve put together answers to some of the most frequently asked questions that we get about hearing aid styles. Have a question you want answered? Get in touch with our friendly team or arrange an appointment today – we’re happy to help!
What styles of hearing aids are available?
If you’re looking for hearing aids, there is a full range of devices available to choose from. The most popular hearing aid styles are:
- In the ear: Custom moulded to fit your ear, they’re available as full shell, half shell, in the canal, completely in the canal, and invisible in the canal.
- Receiver in Canal: Our best-selling hearing aids – discrete, crisp sound quality and connect with a range of everyday devices such as smartphones and TVs, which helps to make everyday life much more comfortable
- Behind the ear: These devices fit behind the ear with a thin transparent tube running to the inside of your ear. While hearing aids fitted in the ear are typically more discreet, modern behind-the-ear hearing aids are slim and comfortable to wear, and offer greater power and amplification for more severe hearing loss.
Alternatively, Lyric by Phonak is an advanced hearing aid option that changes the very idea of what hearing aids are. These devices are the only 100% invisible hearing aids available. They are worn 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no maintenance or batteries to charge. Find out more about Lyric by Phonak.
Not sure which style to go for? Get in touch with us today; our friendly team are here to help, to offer advice and guidance as you need!
What are the best hearing aid styles for small ear canals?
If you’re looking for the best hearing aids for small ear canals, there are a number of options that are ideal for you.
Custom moulded in-the-ear hearing aids make a great choice for small ear canals. Our audiologists take moulds of both of your ears to create custom hearing aids for your ears. Depending on how small your ear canals are, either Completely in the Canal (CIC) or Invisible in the Canal (IIC) hearing aids may be preferable. These are some of the smallest hearing aids available, meaning they’re a perfect choice for small ear canals.
It’s important to remember that your ears and hearing are unique to you. Our friendly, fully qualified audiologists will help to find the best devices for your needs, which fit comfortably and improve your hearing levels. For more guidance, book an appointment with Healthy Hearing today and begin your journey to better hearing.
What are the best hearing aids for seniors?
When searching for the best hearing aids for seniors, there are a few questions and factors that must be taken into consideration, such as:
- What level of hearing loss do you want to treat?
- Would you prefer hearing aids that you take out or leave in?
- Would you prefer hearing aids that fit in the ear or over the ear?
- What style or level of discreteness do you prefer?
With a free lifestyle hearing assessment from Healthy Hearing, our friendly expert audiologists help you to answer these questions and assess your current hearing levels.
From here, we can recommend a number of hearing aid styles, including in-the-ear, receiver-in-canal, and behind-the-ear devices.
